What is a Lake Mat?

LakeMat® is made of a proprietary fabric that is soft, pliable and
comfortable to walk on. It feels like a carpet made of felt.

Its unique fabric matrix is porous enough to allow 90 gallons of water to flow though a one foot square section per minute, yet allows less than 1 percent of available sunlight to reach aquatic weeds beneath it.

The unique LakeMat® fabric is light yet unbelievably strong. A standard LakeMat® that is 12 1/2 wide by 30 feet long (with weights included) weighs about 48 pounds, yet it takes 130 pounds of pressure to puncture it. It’s a truly amazing, high-tech fabric. The weight system is built into the LakeMat® fabric, which is the only fabric approved for use by the Department of Environmental Quality for aquatic purposes.

The weight system is designed to hold the miracle LakeMat® fabric firmly on the lake bottom but allow easy repositioning if you wish to move your LakeMat®. Our propriety LakeMat® fabric is not a tarp or landscape fabric, neither of which are approved for use in lakes, nor do they work at controlling aquatic weeds. It is specially formulated aquatic use.
